Our Family Orphan Communities, Inc, (OFOC) is a nonprofit charity that is designing and developing a self-sustaining, environmentally green, high-tech Community in which street orphans will be raised in families with surrogate parents and grandparents. The children will receive healthcare, family values, education, and job and computer skills to prepare them for their future and the future of their country.  These communities are destined for third-world and developing countries.

Currently OFOC is working with the Vietnam Aid Society for Disabled Children to develop this Community in
Ninh
Binh
Province where the land has been donated for the project. You can see our progress at www.orphancommunities.org.

To assist this cause, Xippee, Incorporated has donated 300 shares of its corporate stock to OFOC.  Xippee, Inc. is a software company that has developed a free internet search tool that makes doing searches on any search engine easier and faster.  Instead of having to type in additional search terms to add or delete from your search criteria, you simply highlight a word in the search options, a small window with + and - will appear, you then click either option and your search will be automatically redone either adding or removing the term you had highlighted.   This is one of the few free software programs to ever receive a five star rating by download.com. You can download this free search tool at www.xippee.com.

The project, Ethanol & Orphans, is looking for celebrities who think it is a good idea and who will endorse the project.  The project sponsor is the not-for-profit charity, Our Family Orphan Communities, Inc.

The Ethanol & Orphans project is currently underway in Vietnam where we will be building a cellulose ethanol refinery and using the profits to build:
 - a Self-sustaining, high-tech, green Community for street orphans where they will be raised in families with surrogate parents and grandparents, given care, skills (job, computer, familiy/life) and supplemental education.
 - a Medical clinic supported by the profits from the refinery so those who cannot afford it can still receive treatment.
 - more care for disabled children (who are still today being born with birth defects from Agent Orange which was used in the war in the 60's and 70's) so they can learn to be self-sufficient even with disabilities.

We are looking for people who care about:
 - improving the environment
 - using less petrochemical fuels
 - helping developing / third world countries to improve
 - street children living barely surviving
 - disabled children who need assistance
 - providing medical/dental care for those who cannot afford it
 - protecting food sources (we will use sugarcane for the refiery, NOT grains)
 - providing education for children, the future leaders of their country
 - and more humanitarian projects

The celebrities will be asked to speak about our project when they can, and to allow us to use thier comments/picture/name in our website and promotion materials.

For complete details about the project, see: http://www.orphancommunities.org

Vietnam Vice President honors Ethanol & Disabled Children/Orphans Project

Report from Executive Director of Our Family Orphan Communities, Inc, on progress with Vietnam Ethanol & Orphans/Disabled Children Project

I have just returned from a trip to Vietnam to see the progress of our project with our partners, the Vietnam Aid Society for Disabled Children (VASDC) and am pleased to be able to report the progress that has been made.

For the last year, our team leader, Mr. Ngon, has been holding meetings with government ministries, officials, private organizations and supporters and has kept things going.

In this photo, he is seen with the President of Vietnam, Nguyen Minh Triet.

While in business, it is rare that itineraries ever go exactly as planned, Mr. Ngon's flexibility and tenacity got us to the people we needed to see and the support that we need to proceed.

A key meeting on this trip was being received by Vice President of Vietnam, Nguyen Thi Doan.

It was wonderful to hear her comments, compliments and support for this project.

Within 4 hours of our meeting, it was on the national television news and the next day in the newspapers. Since then we have already been receiving emails and inquiries from people in other countries as the internet propagates the story.

The public presentation of this project speaks to the commitment that people have to make it happen.

Last year I leaned that the former Vice President of Vietnam, Truong My Hoa, was very involved with VASDC and its activities to help the disabled children.

This trip, in a meeting with Professor Thu, the head of VASDC (and teacher of doctors of acupuncture in several countries), staff of VASDC/HSC and supporters,  I also had the honor to meet with Madame Hoa to talk about the project. She also continues to provide support to ensure this project becomes a reality.

You may recall that in our photos from last year, Mr. Ngon not only had an audience with the President of Vietnam to talk about the project, but he also was able to get a letter from the Prime Minister's office showing us their support and how to move forward with the project.

With this kind of top-down support, it is not a matter of if this project will succeed, it is just a matter of when.

Not only do we have the political support, we have a commitment to provide the land from Ninh Binh Province.

Visiting this historic site of the first capital of Vietnam after they became independent is awe inspiring,

With the province kindly providing a guide we were able to appreciate the significance of this place.

Our day included meeting province officials, bankers, planners and going to visit the potential site where the refinery can be located.

All of the preparation has been done and the potential site offered, it is now time to move forward.

The next step is to do the on-site design, engineering, environmental, marketing and feasibility studies.

The output of this 3 to 4 month step will be a Bankable Feasibility Study with all the details needed to obtain the licenses and permits required by the investment law of Vietnam. It will also aid us in obtaining the funding needed for the construction.

Funding is needed now to do this step. Our partner organizations in Vietnam, VASDC/HSC, are looking into various alternatives to obtain the funds. Our goal at this time is to obtain $10 million dollars which will allow us to keep moving forward.  We are asking for donations (and loans of collateral), not only from the Vietnamese Community, but from all individuals and organizations that think this is a
worthwhile project.

Your donation will help us to provide:
 - over 500 jobs
 - homes and families for street orphans
 - care for children still being born with birth defects due to agent orange
 - free medical care to local citizens
 - job and computer skills
 - cleaner environment
 - economic stimulus
 - renewable fuel
 - and much more.

You will do this by helping us build a cellulose Ethanol Refinery from which the profits will build a Medical Clinic, Self-sustaining, high-tech Community where orphans are raised in families, provide care and training for disabled children and full scholarships for qualified children. Details are on our website at: www.orphancommunities.org
Donations can be on-line at our website or mailed to our tax-exempt, not-for-profit charity at:
Vietnam Ethanol & Disabled Children/Orphans Project,
Our Family Orphan Communities, Inc. P O Box 906 Alamosa, CO 81101-0906

(Make checks payable to Our Family Orphan Communities, Inc.)
Feel free to check our not-for-profit charity status with the Colorado Secretary of State.
We will provide a tax receipt for all donations.
Feel free to contact us with any questions at: info@orphancommunities.org

We are excited about the progress to date and are looking forward to the ground-breaking in 2008.

And, one more thank you to the Southeast Asia, South Asia &
South Pacific
Department of the External Relations Commission, C.C. CPVn for providing a translator for all of our meetings during this trip. Nguyen Anh Nguyet (Moon) was a wonderful asset to ensure complete understanding in all of our meetings. Thanks Moon for all your help (and tips on protocol)!

Thank you all for your ongoing support for Our Family Orphan Communities, Inc. our partners and our projects.

Ethanol & Orphans/Disabled Children in Vietnam & Liberia

What do Ethanol and Orphans have in common?
ANSWER: Vietnam and Liberia.

This is where ethanol refineries will be built and the profits used to build medical clinics and self-sustaining communities where orphans and disabled children are raised in families.

Our Family Orphan Communities, Inc., is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization that has a mission statement “to design and create modern, self-sustaining, high-tech, family style communities in which orphans live with surrogate parents and grandparents in a family setting, receive quality education, learn practical family living and job skills, future oriented high-tech skills to prepare them for their future and for leadership roles in their country.” The funding for the initial construction of the Orphan Community and Medical Clinic will come from the earnings of an “economic engine” business – such as an Ethanol Refinery that will in itself provide many jobs and other benefits to the host country.

Ceres Conference 2007

April 25-26, 2007 | Seaport Hotel | Boston, MA

Early registration ends Friday February 23rd!
The Ceres Conference 2007, Advancing Sustainable Prosperity, comes at a critical juncture. The world is struggling to meet energy and water needs, the planet is warming at an alarming pace, and many still live and work in poverty. While corporations are under increasing pressure to compete globally while maximizing returns, these environmental and social challenges are business issues that need serious attention. They pose both risks that must be managed proactively and opportunities that must be leveraged immediately.

Advancing sustainable prosperity is about understanding that capitalism and sustainability are deeply and increasingly interrelated. By uniting investor and environmental perspectives, business strategies can be aligned with sustainable solutions so that the planet can be protected at the same time that people can prosper.

Ceres, the world's largest network of investors, environmentalists and companies united for sustainable prosperity, challenges conventional short-term thinking, builds long-term value and produces measurable results.

Join us for the Ceres Conference 2007, which will bring together and mobilize CEOs, corporate directors, investors and national environmental leaders to take action on these vast challenges before us.

Ethanol Worldwide, LLC a private company working to provide ethanol refineries to third world and developing countries has agreed to use a portion of its profits to assist Our Family Orphan Communities, Inc., a not-for-profit which is building Self-sustaining Communities where orphans are raised in family homes instead of institutions.

Ethanol Worldwide, LLC is a company formed by people interested in benefiting from opportunities associated with the increasing worldwide demand for ethanol. This includes capitalizing on opportunities such as worldwide commodities trading for feedstocks and ethanol, arranging project financing, as well as building and operating Ethanol Refineries in third-world and developing countries.

Our Family Orphan Communities, Inc., is a 501-c-3, tax-exempt not-for-profit that has a mission statement “to design and create modern, self-sustaining, high-tech, family style communities in which orphans live with surrogate parents and grandparents in a family setting, receive quality education, learn practical family living and job skills, future oriented high-tech skills to prepare them for their future and for leadership roles in their country.” The funding for the initial construction of the Orphan Community and Medical Clinic will come from the earnings of an “economic engine” business – such as an Ethanol Refinery that will in itself provide many benefits to the host country.

This blend of private capital and humanitarian concern will be a powerful change force in every location where it is built.

While Ethanol Worldwide, LLC is made up of individuals and organizations pooling their private funds for the purpose of building the refineries, Our Family Orphan Communities, Inc., the nonprofit, is asking for help in making contact with donors who desire to see these projects continue to be successful worldwide. This would assist the nonprofit to facilitate building of more orphan Communities, Clinics and participate in the ownership of the refineries also.

Reuse Carrier Bags & Reduce Waste

Using canvas tote bags helps to reduce the number of supermarket plastic carrier bags wasted each year. Photo services print digital photographs onto canvas tote bags replacing the supermarket logo.

Encouraging consumers to use fewer environmentally damaging plastic carriers has long been a challenge. If modern urban life had a flag it would be a plastic bag: ugly, somewhere unreachable and likely to remain there long after the last bit of open space has been concreted into a supermarket car park. The UK's largest supermarket chain said this month that it would seek to cut the number of carrier bags it gives to customers by 25% over the next two years.

Much more could be achieved by getting people to use their own, durable carrier bags.
Some photo printing services apply digital photos onto canvas for long lasting carrier bags. These reusable photo tote bags start from £4.99 at http://fotoinsight.co.uk/gifts or €6.99 at http://fotoinsight.com and are an ideal, personalised and useful present. Over the course of its long life a reusable Tote Bag helps avoiding thousands of plastic supermarket carriers when used regularly. Why carry a supermarket’s logo when the carrier can feature ones favourite photograph. One of the photo services printing onto canvas, cotton and tote bags is FotoInsight of Cambridge (http://fotoinsight.co.uk). In light of the recent discussions about global warming, CO2 emissions and land fill photo tote bags may prove a smart, sub £8/€12 gift idea.
