Att trycka på canvasduk var tidigare ett arbete för små verkstäder som tryckte konst som hantverk och spände upp dukarna på ramar. FotoInsight automatiserar den här processen och erbjuder nu dekorativa väggprydnader utifrån egna bilder för hemmet och kontoret.

Artificial Families to Adopt Orphans

Denver, Colorado January 9, 2010:  Now there is a new paradigm of orphan care – a way to get them adopted into real families.
 

For decades people have thought that the only way to help orphans stay off the street was to put them in orphanages, which in many cases are nothing more than warehouses for children. Once in an orphanage, the children depend on good hearted people to donate enough money, food and clothes so they can stay there. Rarely however do orphanages ever have enough donations to care properly for the children they have, let alone to provide for their education or to help them learn job skills. And they never have the opportunity to experience what it is like to be part of a real family.

 

While living in an orphanage is better than living on the streets, wouldn’t it be better if there was a way to help more children to be adopted into families? That is the goal of the new Families For Orphans project being implemented by Our Family Orphan Communities, Inc. a Colorado nonprofit 501(c)3 charity. They are creating new paradigm of orphan care for our world. It is an economically self-sustaining community where carefully selected businesses are established to create jobs, grow food, provide job skills training for adolescents and where all profits from the businesses are used to support financially stable families that can adopt children from orphanages and truly prepare them for their future.

This ensures that after the whole family has browsed through the new photo book at Christmas it will still look like new. As an environmentally aware enterprise, the printer ensures through compliance with ISO 14001* that the pages in photo books from Printing-1 remain free of toxic substances.

Glossy prints last longer

For three years Printing-1 has been offering customers the opportunity to design their individual photo book. To the range of photo canvas prints and photo books as well as photobook calendars Printing-1 now adds the glossy photo book. For this the complete photo book pages are coated with an environmentally friendly glossy varnish, which improves brilliance and detail. 

Environmentally friendly diversity

Customers can choose among seven different photo book formats with up to 250 pages. A longer lasting book binding is achieved with a Polyurethan (PUR) glue, which keeps the photo book pages in place. Thanks to the new High-Gloss finish option, the printed surface is protected from wear and de-colouring, ensuring a long life for the book and the photographic memories within. The new hi-gloss can even be used with a good ecological conscience.

The PrintCity Alliance is working on a new initiative to research Carbon Footprint & Energy Efficiency in the printing & packaging industry. The objective is to analyse and give guidance on how to measure and use Carbon Footprints, as a catalyst for improved process efficiency & environmental performance.
 
PrintCity will network with other organisations at the European level, inviting them to contribute to and review this important research. Our objective is to help harmonise and improve how our industry understands and utilises Carbon Footprints.
 
PrintCity members involved are: manroland, UPM, Sun Chemical, Kurz, Trelleborg, Sappi, Faist, MKW and M-real, plus project partner Kodak.
 
We will publish a PrintCity best practice guide in 2010.

Los servicios de pósteres y fotos en lienzo por lo general sólo imprimen las fotografías. FotoInsight ahora lanza una nueva “Tienda Deco” en línea, donde un marco de madera natural puede combinarse con un lienzo sobre bastidor o un póster laminado. Las ampliaciones impresas se entregan montadas y enmarcadas, listas para decorar un hogar o una oficina.

Madrid, 7 de Oct. de 2009. – La resolución de las cámaras digitales ha aumentado drásticamente. Muchas fotografías digitales podrían impresionar en una casa o en una sala de juntas, si estuvieran impresas como un póster laminado o como un lienzo montado sobre un bastidor con marco flotante. Con una buena foto, una ampliación enmarcada constituye un magnífico regalo personal.

FotoInsight, un especialista que sirve a aficionados y profesionales de la fotografía, imprime fotos sobre lienzo en diferentes tamaños desde 20x30 cm (resolución mínima 800 x 1100 pixel) hasta 60x80 cm (2500 x 3300 pixel recomendados). FotoInsight afirma que usa telas sintéticas, resistentes a la decoloración y con garantía de larga duración. Las tintas de tecnología punta penetran profundamente en la tela, que puede ser impresa y estirada sobre el borde del bastidor de madera. The PrintCity Alliance in partnership with PrintWeek completed a successful PRINTplusX Workshop in London during September, highlighting a golden opportunity for Value Added Printing, with a range of printer, designer and brand owner focused speakers.
 
“The day was a roaring success with us being presented to by a really good mix of people and companies within the sector. They all had excellent and inspiring views in adding value to creative, print and business models. The day was extremely well organised and I must say that it’s been some time since I have got as much out of a workshop. In particular the brainstorming was taxing but fun and, we managed to create some really interesting ideas. I look forward to attending another successful day in the future,” commented Helen Castledine, Creative Director of Greens, High Wycombe.
 
Discussing the opportunities for Value Added Printing (VAP), this event included knowledgeable speakers from all parts of the value chain linking designers, agencies, suppliers and printers, plus interactive break-out sessions. Targeted at brand owners, designers and publishers, as well as all UK sheetfed & web printers, it was the first such event by PrintCity in the UK. Under the headline PRINTplusX – The Secrets of Value Added, the workshop showed how Value Added Printing can increases the competitiveness of a brand, e.g. at point-of-sale.
 
PrintCity Alliance members’ manroland, UPM, Merck, Sappi, Weilburger Graphics and Kurz discussed the latest value added printing & packaging techniques, materials and possibilities. Speakers commented positively on the benefits and opportunities for all involved, by working more closely together to exploit VAP. Print and paper’s strong sustainability message and the need to promote this accordingly, was also discussed.
 
“There is a golden opportunity to redefine print by capitalising on its tactile and sensory qualities,” according to Anderson Norton Design creative director David Norton. Norton called for the connection between printers and designers to be restored to the days of the stronger bonds that were broken by the introduction of the Mac and DTP.
 
"Engage with designers and use our knowledge. We understand print and the web and we know the limitations of the internet. Websites are always in RGB, but print has so much more to offer," he stated.
 
Louisa Moger, marketing director at Richard Edward, provided an inspirational case study, charting how the company has successfully moved itself up the value chain with clients to escape the price spiral. "Value-added printing is not a choice, it’s mandatory," she said. "If we hadn’t understood this we would have been just another statistic among print’s many casualties.
 
Peter Stead, retail print director at Formgraphics Retail, had opened the event by highlighting the strategic use of value-added print techniques by retailers. "Value-added techniques allow us to capture the imagination and capture customer spend.”
 
The PRINTplusX Workshop moderator Jo Francis, Associate Editor, PrintWeek magazine, summarised her conclusions, “Great speakers, a great audience, and an altogether enjoyable and uplifting day that provided us all with a fresh appreciation for print's enduring and unique attributes. The ideas for VAP treatments that came out of the workshop sessions were absolutely fantastic."
 
Rainer Kuhn, PrintCity Managing Director commented, “We were extremely delighted to see all our workshop delegates leaving so satisfied – the concept meets the needs of the market & the people. The key objective to stimulate discussion amongst involved parties in the UK print/publishing value chain was 100% achieved.
 
Kuhn concluded, “The connection of competence that the PrintCity Alliance offers, with many members & partners involved, gave significant and unique value to our customers present. We are now considering how to continue this important debate about Value Added Printing in 2010!”

PrintCity Alliance members Leonhard Kurz, M-real, manroland, Sappi, UPM and Weilburger Graphics are presenting Value Added Printing innovation under the PrintCity umbrella project PRINTplusX at the Frankfurt Book Fair, October 14th - 18th, 2009.
 
Located in the new Book Fair Weiβraum (White Space) area dedicated to book innovation, PrintCity members will be sharing with publishers the qualitative & quantitative research data and samples flowing from their unique project, PRINTplusX  - The Secrets of Value Added.
 
Business innovation experts from these PrintCity companies will discuss with book publishers the expanding opportunities for Value Added Printing to differentiate their products, gain improved consumer recognition and hence increased sales.
 
All areas of book publishing can benefit from Value Added Printing techniques:
  • Book covers – paperback or hardback
  • Inserts and book text pages – selected for reader impact
  • Point of Sale (POS) Displays – bookstore, kiosk or at book launch
Some Value Added Printing (VAP) techniques like spot varnish, soft touch materials and hot-foil stamping are already seen, but other VAP opportunities are not yet used worldwide.
 
VAP can differentiate and sell, create a multi-sense reader impression (visual, haptic, aroma) & improve the reading experience. Recent research suggests that:
  • Value Added Printing helps consumer recognition in a highly competitive publishing market
  • Quality perceived by customers at the Point of Sale (POS) is vital in impulsive/emotional buying decisions which may take fractions of a second
