Mijn naam is Percy Balemans en ik ben gediplomeerd en beëdigd vertaler Engels. Ik heb
gekozen voor het vak van vertaler omdat ik het leuk vind op een creatieve manier met
taal bezig te zijn en met woorden te spelen om dezelfde boodschap over te brengen in een
andere taal, tegen een andere culturele achtergrond. Ik ben in 1989 afgestudeerd aan de
Opleiding Tolk-Vertaler in Maastricht met Engels als eerste taal. Ik ben aangesloten bij
het Nederlands Genootschap van Tolken en Vertalers (NGTV).
Ik heb meer dan tien jaar ervaring als vertaler. Ik heb veel ervaring met het vertalen
van teksten op het gebied van automatisering, zoals online helpteksten en handleidingen
voor software en apparatuur, en ik heb websites over verschillende onderwerpen vertaald.
Verder heb ik onder andere een boek over reiki, cursusmateriaal voor een duikcursus en
ondertitels voor DVD's vertaald.

My name is Percy Balemans and I am a certified and sworn translator of English. I chose
to become a translator because I enjoy being creative with language and juggling with
words in order to convey the same message in a different language and against a
different cultural background. I graduated in 1989 from the Opleiding Tolk-Vertaler
(School for Translation and Interpreting) in Maastricht, the Netherlands, with English
as my main language. I am a member of the Netherlands Society of Interpreters and
Translators (NGTV).
I have more than ten years of experience as a translator. I have extensive experience in
ICT translation, such as online help texts and software and hardware manuals, and I have
translated websites on various subjects. In addition, I have translated, amongst other
things, a book on reiki, training material for a scuba diving course and subtitles for
DVDs.
